Code Barrel was founded in 2016 by two former Atlassians, who feel passionate about developing great products that enable teams of all shapes and sizes to perform their best work.
We have over 40 years combined experience in working on Atlassian products and Agile software development. We believe that great software is found at the intersection of design and engineering.
Life at Code Barrel
Life is about more than just work, and while we are fanatical about building great products, we also realise that a good work-life balance is just as meaningful. As such we only work 4 days a week (with a 5 day pay cheque!) and frequently organise events that are fun for partners and staff alike. We proudly wear what we feel comfortable in - no suits required (except on Melbourne cup day)!
Andreas Knecht - Founder
Andreas studied software engineering at the university of New South Wales in Sydney. For the past ten years he lived and breathed Jira while working for Atlassian. As a result he has a deep understanding of Jira's internals and has written many Jira add-ons in the past.
Nick Menere - Founder
Nick was one of the early members of the team that brought you Jira. He spent the last 10 years at Atlassian collaborating with designers and product managers to deliver functionality to Jira customers.
Scott Harwood - Engineer
Mark joined Atlassian as 15 person startup in 2004 and helped build out the foundational pieces of Jira you know and love today! Mark's other roles in his 13 years at Atlassian included founding and running the Bamboo team for 7 years, as well as kick starting the Atlassian Mobile teams in Sydney and Saigon.
